Law enforcement needed an answer, and they found it in General John T. Thompson’s submachine gun. The Thompson was a stunning and revolutionary combination of firepower and portability, and it helped turn the tide against organized crime. In fact, the Thompson has become so legendary that its nickname, “Tommygun,” is now the common name for all submachine guns! The American Historical Foundation proudly announces the third edition in our Showcase Series of great American military longarms, The Showcase Edition Thompson.
One of One Hundred
The Showcase Edition Thompson is an actual firing Thompson, chambered like the originals in .45 ACP. For ease of ownership, it fires in the semi-automatic mode only. Each Thompson is made by the Auto-Ordnance Corporation, the company founded by General John T. Thompson that made the original Thompson submachine gun. Differing from contemporary firearms which are stamped, the Thompson’s major components are actually machined from solid blocks of steel! In addition to the quality expected from a Thompson, this limited edition is crafted with the following special features:
• Like all Showcase Edition firearms, this Thompson is entirely Nickel plated. The sides of the upper receiver, barrel and trigger are beautifully mirror-polished. The magazine, rear sight base, actuator knob, lower receiver, compensator, front sight and butt plate are all satin-finished to provide contrast.
• Etched along the right side of the upper receiver are the inscriptions “The Showcase Edition Thompson,” and “One of One Hundred.” Also embellishing this presentation side are the Thompson Bullet Trademark and a scene of a policeman firing his Thompson, reproduced from a 1930s Auto-Ordnance Corporation advertising.
• A solid Sterling Silver plaque is mounted on the right side of the stock. The words “The Showcase Edition One of One Hundred,” “On the Side of Law and Order” and the famous Thompson Bullet are deeply etched into the Silver.
• The stock, forestock and pistol grip are all solid American Walnut, finished to a presentation grade.
Only 100 of these Showcase Edition Thompsons are being crafted, with registry numbers ranging from 001/100 through 100/100. Each Thompson is issued with a Certificate of Authenticity, attesting to the Registry Number and edition limit. A custom-built, luxuriously lined Display Case with engraved identification plaque is available. Includes locking glass lid to protect your firearm from dust and unauthorized handling. Suitable for wall mount or tabletop display.
Shipping Procedures
We will arrange delivery through a licensed firearms dealer of your choice. You do not need a special license to own the Tribute. Anyone who can own a standard hunting rifle can own this, in most communities. (Not available in California or Connecticut.)
