Walther Iron Cross PP

In the old days, Walther embellished a very few of their “flagship” pistols, the PP, for Germany’s heads of state and the highest military leaders. Money was no object in their creation; these few pieces are among the most spectacular pistols the world has ever seen. But, such masterpieces are never available today; as national treasures, they would fetch unspeakable prices—“One million dollars” for one particular one, per the History Channel’s The Tale of the Gun. These great guns have inspired us to search, for more than 20 years, for genuine German-made Walther PP’s to make this project a reality. The Walthers we bring you now are even more extravagant. Each is custom gunsmithed to the finest museum quality. Nowhere in the long history of Walther has there ever been attempted a project of such ambitious great artistry and master-work craftsmanship. And just as each is a genuine German-made Walther, the theme of the engraving is as Germanic as possible—the Iron Cross. During the Third Crusade, this black cross became the symbol of the Teutonic Knights, and to this day it is Germany’s national military symbol. The medal that incorporates this design is the most famous in the world, having been introduced in 1813 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III.

All Hand Engraved

All the engraving is completely by hand, using the time-honored, hammer-and-chisel method, with custom mirror polishing by skilled gun polishers. The engraving is the correct classic German style, and the plating is to Jewelers Grade-Heavy thickness, for lasting beauty and value. Each features a grip inlay of hand-engraved solid Sterling Silver. Two models are briefly available to you:

The Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross

The oval grip disc of solid Sterling Silver is hand-engraved with this high order of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, with Oakleaves and Swords, inlaid in the polished Ebony grips.

The pistol exhibits detailed hand engraving of oakleaves and acorns in the traditional Walther pattern. The hand-engraved Walther name banner and two additional hand-engraved banners bearing the German words, Eiserne Kreuz, for Iron Cross, are showcased as foreground. The hand engraving features full coverage across the top and both sides of the frame, slide, trigger and triggerguard, with half coverage across the underside and backstraps. The full coverage of plating is the finest Sterling Silver, to Jewelers Grade-Heavy thickness. This is a strictly limited edition of only 100, worldwide.

The Iron Cross Edition

The solid Sterling Silver round grip disc is hand engraved with the Iron Cross and inlaid in custom-checkered, polished-Rosewood grip. Hand engraving from the Knight’s Cross Edition covers the top and both sides of the slide and both sides of the trigger and triggerguard, with 20% engraving coverage on the sides of the frame. Hard Nickel plating—known for its long lasting, hard-wearing beauty—embellishes this edition. This edition is strictly limited to only 300 pistols, worldwide. In addition to these two models, advanced collectors, are invited to call about the two, exhibition-grade Star of the Grand Cross “One of 25” editions—one with Diamonds, Rubies and solid 24-Karat Gold grip inlay, the other with Diamonds, Sapphires and solid Sterling Silver grip inlay.
