Turn back the clock...return to a generation ago to the early 1960's, the M14 was our country's last “big-bore” main battle rifle. It was a “Four-in-One” weapons system, designed to replace the M1 Garand, the M1/M2 Carbine, the BAR and the M3 Submachine Gun. It is an all-time classic—an important “must” in any collection. And the most gallant heritage of the M14 was its war years. The American Historical Foundation is proud to announce the Vietnam War Commemorative M14. Each, like no other M14’s before, is custom gunsmithed to museum quality. This is the world's first commemorative M14. The first of any collectible is always of special interest to collectors, because it represents an acknowledged milestone.
Your assurance of historical accuracy, the components are genuine, original military parts specially selected for this Limited Edition and finished by skilled gunsmiths to museum-grade. Each receiver is made by Springfield Armory for this Limited Edition to military specifications, except in one important way...each fires only in semi-automatic, for ease of legal ownership.
This rifle reflects its special collector status and is obviously built to museum-quality. Sixteen components are mirror polished and 24-Karat Gold plated: front sight, safety, magazine release, front and rear sling swivel sets (5 parts), rear slight assembly (6 parts), and trigger. Even the flash suppressor is plated with genuine 24-Karat Gold. For lasting beauty and value, all the plating is to Jewelers Grade-Heavy thickness. Other major components are also mirror polished and gun blued to gloss black using the heat immersion process, to contrast with the 24-Karat Gold. The operating rod and receiver are deeply etched and gold-gilt infilled with patriotic inscriptions and symbols. Each is built with a beautiful, custom-built American Walnut stock by Reinhart Fajen; it gleams with seven coats of high gloss finish, hand-rubbed and polished.
The focal point of the stock features a fired enamel cloisonne proudly and beautifully portraying the colors and center design of the Vietnam Service Medal. This is a firing limited edition of only 500. There is a direct relationship between rarity and value, and this extremely low edition limit further enhances the investment aspect of ownership of this piece.
The three-digit registry numbers range between 001-500 with the prefix “VME” for “Vietnam–Museum Edition”, further designating this to be a special edition. Serial No. 001 has been presented by the Foundation to General William Westmoreland, who in turn, presented it for military museum display at Patriot's Point Museum.
This is a firing rifle and could be used to defend your home, family or nation, using readily available 7.62mm .308 Win. ammunition—the same as issued by our military forces.
