The “Desert Fox”

Today the mention of the nickname given to Field Marshal Erwin Rommel by his British enemies is enough to conjure up images: a dusty column of Panzers crossing the North African Desert, with Rommel in his halftrack characteristically at the head of his troops. Rommel was regarded by his enemies as Germany’s finest operational level commander. Rommel had an unparalleled ability to orchestrate all of his combat assets to achieve decisive results on the battlefield. More than just a great General, Field Marshal Erwin Rommel was also an honorable and chivalrous officer. He was renown for his kind treatment of prisoners, and was the most well-known collaborator in the German Generals’ Plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler on 20 July 1944. In fact, it was his role in the failed plot that drove him to suicide lest his family face the wrath of the Nazis.

The P-38 Story

The P-38 was the most popular and widely used German sidearm of World War II. A worthy replacement for the Luger, it featured many design improvements such as a hammer safety and a “chamber loaded” indicator pin. Manufactured by Spreewerke Waffenfabrik at the Grottau factory between 1939 and 1945, each pistol illustrates the precision workmanship and engineering so characteristic of German firearms.

Two Strictly Limited Editions, Worldwide

Just 300 Collector Edition Models are available with Registry Numbers ERC001 through ERC300 (ERC for Erwin Rommel Collector). Only 100 of these Field Marshal Erwin Rommel Limited Edition P-38 pistols are being reserved for the Deluxe Edition. Each pistol of the Deluxe Edition is numbered from ERD001 through ERD100 (ERD for Erwin Rommel Deluxe).

Collector Edition P-38

In addition to the precision workmanship of a collector grade original P-38, this pistol is enhanced with many embellishments adding beauty and investment value. These special attributes include:

The pistol is chambered for the classic and readily available 9mm Parabellum cartridge—just like the originals. The box magazine holds eight rounds plus one in the chamber.
This original World War II firearm displays a combination of mirror and satin polish finishes, and is meticulously hand-engraved in an elaborate German Oak-leaf pattern. Banners inscribed with Rommel’s name, birth and death dates are etched and Gold-gilt infilled on the left side of the slide.
For enduring value the trigger, hammer, grip screw and safety have all been plated in 24-Karat Gold.
The custom grips are crafted from checkered Walnut and decorated with an exquisite cloisonné medallion depicting the initials “DAK” for Rommel’s Deutsches Afrikakorps (German Africa Corps) superimposed over an African palm tree.

Deluxe Edition P-38

The Deluxe Field Marshal Rommel Limited Edition P-38 is a masterpiece of hand-crafted detail. Only 100 firearm collectors will be able to reserve the ultra-rare Deluxe Edition. Featuring all of the exquisite details of the Collector Edition, the Deluxe Edition is further embellished to a degree usually encountered only on the finest of museum-quality firearms. The entire presentation banner is hammer inlaid with 24-Karat Gold. Erwin Rommel’s name, title and birth and death dates are then meticulously hand-engraved and black infilled for dramatic contrast.

Display Case

Also available is a custom made, luxuriously lined Display Case with locking glass lid and engraved identification plaque to display and protect your Tribute from dust and unauthorized handling.

Each pistol is numbered and registered within the limited edition of 300, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Thirty-day return privilege.
