Every newsreel you see about the Nazis showcases the Mauser K98k. It was Adolf Hitler’s favorite rifle—Corporal Hitler carried its earlier pattern in WWI. Hence, he decreed it, on 14 June 1935, the main battle rifle of the Third Reich. The basic bolt-action design by Paul Mauser dated back to 1898 (hence the “98”), and it was—no bones about it—the “father” of most bolt action rifles, particularly our 1903 Springfield. The “Karabiner 98 kurz”, K98k, is considered the most famous infantry rifle in world history. Many collectors—as well as World War II veterans and their families—would like to own a pristine specimen. But gun show examples look like they’ve been through a threshing machine. Ah, but to own one that looks better than any in any museum in the world!

A Collector and Historical “First”

Each is an important “First” in arms collecting history. Never before has there been a K98k to this high standard, worthy of display in the finest museums and private collections. Specifically, this is a genuine wartime-contract rifle, the transitional model which includes some features from both early-war and late-war models, with the cupped buttplate, drilled bolt-takedown hole, bayonet lug, cleaning rod and front barrel-band spring (the three latter features were eliminated in late 1944). Experienced gunsmiths demonstrate some of their best work on each:

Your rifle begins as a genuine hand-picked K98k, made in Germany when Adolph Hitler was Führer.
Gunsmiths completely disassemble and inspect it, then mirror polish the steel—it takes hours, especially preserving the crisp edges. Even the buttplate and screws gleam like a mirror. Next, traditional German oakleaf patterns and historical inscriptions are deeply etched in bas relief and richly plated with 24-Karat Gold.
Tasteful 24-Karat Gold also gleams across the trigger and stock crossbolt. Even the buttplate screws are plated with 24-Karat Gold. All the plating is to Jewelers Grade-Heavy thickness, your guarantee of lasting beauty and value.
High temperature bluing follows, producing a beautiful, glistening, high-gloss black finish across the steel.
Old stocks don’t stand the test of time, so a new stock of historically correct wood is custom fitted to your rifle. Hand sanding and multiple coats of oil, applied by hand, give it a beautiful, mellow finish.
Next, a fired-enamel cloisonné honoring our World War II Allied Victory is mounted to form the focal point of the stock.
Then, your rifle is engraved with a special Registry Number between 001 and 500, with the prefix “WWII”.
Finally, the rifle is fitted with a deluxe tooled-leather sling to the correct wartime pattern and given its final inspection.

Being an original piece, each fires the correct, readily–available 7.9 x 57 mm (known as “8mm Mauser”) ammunition.
