Thanks to the rare bringing together of gunsmiths, goldsmiths, gemologists, jewelers and wood finishers, The American Historical Foundation is now, briefly, able to bring you the opportunity to be the owner of one of history’s most spectacular firearms. It honors Germany’s most famous valorous military award – the Iron Cross (das Eiserne Kreuz). This symbol, a black Maltese Cross, dates back to the Teutonic Knights of the Third Crusade. The “P” stands for “pistole,” and the “38” stands for 1938, the year it was adopted by the German Army.

Two Editions Available

To make this available to a range of tastes and budgets, two editions are available. In each case the following apply:

Each is a genuine matching-numbers German P.38 of wartime production with all-steel construction (later ones had aluminum-alloy frames).
Each is completely mirror polished by our skilled gun polishers.
All the engraving is by hand, utilizing only the time-honored, hammer-and-chisel method – no shortcuts.
The grips are deluxe Rosewood and are custom made for this edition.

The Star to the Grand Cross Edition – “One of 25”

This is a strictly limited edition of only 25 in the world! It features:

Beautiful full coverage of hand engraving across both sides of the frame; both sides of the slide; across the top of the slide; over most of the barrel; around the muzzle; along the grip strap; and across the safety, decocking lever and frame latch.
The grip features a solid 24-Karat Gold disk inlay ($$$ - 24 Karat Gold is now over $400 an ounce!).
The 24-Karat Gold inlay is engraved with the Star to the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross and, in turn, inlaid with a total of eight brilliant-cut Diamonds and Rubies. This is the world’s first P.38 inlaid with precious gems!
The pistol is entirely plated with 24-Karat.

Display Case

Also available is a custom made, luxuriously lined Display Case with locking glass lid and engraved identification plaque to display and protect your Tribute from dust and unauthorized handling.
