The “Davis” Henry Repeating Rifle

The “Davis” Henry Repeating Rifle in The Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond, Virginia, is an important Confederate artifact, as it was presented “For the Defense of President Davis” when his life was in danger—13 days after the surrender at Appomattox and 18 days before he was captured! The Jefferson Davis Henry Repeating Rifle, shown here, is the first limited edition longarm ever issued in the honor of the Commander-In-Chief of the Confederacy. The edition limit is only 250, worldwide, an immediate guarantee of rarity. Even the edition numbers are special—001 through 250, with the prefix “JD” for Jefferson Davis—a further assurance of exclusivity. Like the original, this bears President Davis’ name, hand engraved across the right side of the receiver. This Tribute features the sporting-style rear sight mounted in the barrel position. To enhance its historical significance, memorial inscriptions and artistic elements were taken directly from the Jefferson Davis Monument in Richmond. These are also elegantly hand engraved on this firearm: Oak leaves represent the strength of belief in the Southern Cause of Independence; Ivy leaves represent the peace of the future. The hand engraved initials “C.S.A.” within a wreathed cartouche, balance the elaborate hand engraved panoply of flags and the Latin inscription: “Crescit Occulto Velut Arbor Aevo Fama” (“His fame Grows As a Tree Silently Through the Ages”). The ornate hand engraving continues across the top and the reverse of the frame, as well as around the buttplate. As was traditional with the very few original, presentation-grade Henrys, the entire frame is richly plated with Sterling Silver, as are the buttplate, buttplate screws and Trigger. The 24 1/4" barrel and tubular magazine are beautifully blued to complement the deluxe Walnut stock. Firing readily available .44-40 cartridge ammunition, this has a 14-round capacity.

A custom-built, luxuriously lined Display Case with identification plaque is available. Includes locking glass lid to protect your firearm from dust and unauthorized handling. Suitable for wall mount or tabletop display.
