American soldiers, together with our Allies, converged on the beaches of Normandy in the largest amphibious invasion in history. Their objective: To liberate the peoples of Nazi-occupied Europe. To honor the 50th Anniversary of D-Day and all our Veterans of World War II, The American Historical Foundation is proud to announce the first Thompson ever issued in commemoration of D-Day.
Each D-Day 50th Anniversary Commemorative Thompson is designed by the official maker of the famous Thompson: Auto-Ordnance Corporation, the company founded by General John T. Thompson. This is a firing Thompson, chambered for the same famous, readily available .45 ACP ammunition that the G.I.s fired in their Thompsons. As an added collector advantage, it fires in the semi-automatic mode only. Weighing an impressive 12 pounds, the Thompson is a “beast” of a firearm. Unlike most modern guns, all the major components are actually machined from solid blocks of steel.
The fit and finish of each Thompson is presentation grade. The precision-milled receiver is mirror-polished to highlight the etched and gold-gilt infilled commemorative inscriptions.
As a proper memorial to the D-Day invasion, the presentation side is etched with a likeness of our flag, the famous Thompson “bullet” trademark, the D-Day title, code name, invasion date, and the SHAEF (Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force) patch. The rear sight base, trigger, actuator knob, and flash suppressor are all plated in 24-Karat Gold to complement the commemorative inscriptions. The presentation grade American Walnut stock is finished to a high gloss. Three beautiful, enamel cloisonn´e medallions adorn the stock.
Only 500 D-Day Commemorative Thompsons are being hand-crafted, worldwide. To avoid disappointment, please do not delay. Capitol Hill has slated the semi-automatic Thompson to be banned, as part of the Crime Bill. Each Thompson bears an engraved limited edition registry number from DDAY001 through DDAY500. The 500 D-Day 50th Anniversary Commemorative Thompsons, will help keep the memory and glory of D-Day alive for future generations.
