Operation Overlord. The Longest Day. The Normandy Invasion. D-Day was a day unlike any the world had ever known—or will know again.
Time has not dimmed the memories of 6 June 1944. Now, we remember the valor of those brave Americans of World War II through this important issuance of a special limited edition M1911A1 .45, the immortal sidearm of Soldiers.
This is a Museum-Quality Limited Edition of historic significance, particularly if you or a family member served in World War II—especially at Normandy. The slide and frame are custom mirror polished and blued. Deeply etched across the presentation side are historical inscriptions, flanked by gun scrolls reminiscent of the rolling seas of 6 June 1944, embellish the slide. Ten components are plated with genuine 24-Karat Gold, to Jewelers Grade-Heavy thickness, for lasting beauty and value: The trigger, hammer, slide stop, magazine catch, magazine catch screw, safety lock and four grip screws.
The grips are white, symbolic of the purity of the cause of freedom, brought by
the liberators of Hitler's Fortress Europe. Inset in both the right and left
grips are 24-Karat Gold plated fired enamel cloisonnés bearing the SHAEF
(Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force) insignia of the combined
Allied military forces under General Eisenhower’s command.
To enhance collector and historical value, this edition is strictly limited to only 1000, quite low considering the millions of veterans who served in the war. Each firearm in the edition is engraved with its Registry Number between 0001 and 1000, with the prefix “D-DAY”. This number is also inscribed on the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity which also confirms the edition limit and the purity of the 24-Karat Gold plating. Each .45 was designed to full military specifications for this special commemorative edition by the firm of Auto-Ordnance Corporation, established by General John T. Thompson who helped pioneer the .45 ACP round this pistol fires.
This is a rare and important symbol of your pride—and, quite possibly, your service—in our Armed Forces. Due to the low edition limit, prompt response is respectfully suggested to avoid disappointment.
Today the Normandy beaches are quiet and peaceful. A “Our boys” of World War II are retired gentlemen; sadly many have answered the Final Roll Call. They stopped the ”Thousand Year Reich”, and a thousand years from now each of these museum-quality pistols will recall their days of valor.
Also available is a custom made, luxuriously lined Display Case with locking glass lid and engraved identification plaque to display and protect your Tribute from dust and unauthorized handling.
