Each is specially serially numbered between 1 and 250, and this serial number is attested to on the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity. Colt introduced this famous revolver in 1873, and it was used extensively by the military, law enforcement officers and civilians. It was called the “Model 1873,” the “Single Action,” or the “Single Action Army Revolver.”
Each revolver is individually hand engraved with classic scrolls in a pattern unique to the military service branch honored. The service branch name is hand engraved along the 7-1/2” barrel, and its symbol is hand cut in the left recoil shield. The service medallion, created in Jewelers-Grade Heavy Thickness cloisonne enamel and 24-Karat Gold plating, is inset in both sides of the Walnut grip.
The founding date of the service branch and military stars are hand cut between the flutes on the cylinder. Following hand engraving and mirror polishing, each revolver is richly plated with precious metal in a scheme unique to each service branch:
Each fires powerful .45 Long Colt ammunition, which is both authentic and readily available at gun shops. Each revolver is custom built by gunsmith Aldo Uberti, world renowned for his historical accuracy and fidelity to detail. In turn, each is exquisitely hand engraved and plated with precious metals by some of the best gunsmiths and engravers in America, under the Foundation’s commission.
